The Eminem/Gwen Stefani duet we didn’t know how much we needed

Today in sweet surprises: Gwen Stefani and Eminem just dropped a duet! How’s that for a little slice of 2001 nostalgia to kick off your weekend?

While an unlikely pairing, Gwen and Eminem play to their strengths on their latest collaboration, “Kings Never Die.” As per usual, Eminem hammers out verses like a machine while Gwen infuses the tune bits and pieces of alternative rock.

“Kings Never Die” comes as Eminem’s second tune to be featured on the Southpaw soundtrack. Em, who both curated and executive produced the entire soundtrack, has already provided a tune called “Phenomenal” (which is featured in the movie’s trailer) to the track list.

“We have been involved in developing Southpaw since it’s inception and Eminem has dedicated himself to ensuring that this film captured his passion for the project through his music,” Shady Records President Paul Rosenberg said in a press release. ” We’ve assembled a great soundtrack to accompany what’s sure to be one of the finest boxing films ever.”

Other contributors to the soundtrack include The Weekend, Action Bronson, Notorious B.I.G., and many more.

Southpaw, a gritty boxing drama starring Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams, hits theaters on July 24. The soundtrack is set to be released on the same day. Til then, you’re free to enjoy this hip-hop/rock duet, below.
