Emilia Clarke’s new tattoo proves her devotion to Game of Thrones is real

Emilia Clarke is forever the Mother of Dragons. And she’s also forever the mother of three dragons she just got tattooed on her wrist. Clarke’s new wrist tattoo is a tribute to her Game of Thrones character Daenerys Targaryen, and the ink shows her three dragon babies Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion flying in silhouette. “MOD 4 LYFE,” Clarke wrote on Instagram. “This mamma ain’t NEVER forgetting her babies.”

The actress said she was planning to get the tattoo back in May 2018 during an interview on Live With Kelly and Ryan in which she told them the ink would serve as a goodbye to the character.

"I’m going to get a dragon right here, kind of flying away," Emilia said at the time. "So I think that’s cool. A little kind of peace out."

It’s true that Game of Thrones will return for its eighth and final season in 2019, and according to Fortune.com, the cast finished filming the entire series in July, so it’s truly farewell for Emilia Clarke and Daenerys Targaryen.

Interestingly, Clarke only has two tattoos and her first one—a bumble bee on her pinky—is a tribute to her role in the romantic drama Me Before You.

It should come as no surprise to GoT fans that Clarke wanted to immortalize her iconic role, a part she called “the greatest gift.”

“The transformation of Daenerys is the greatest gift I’ve been given as an actor, 100 percent, she told The Hollywood Reporter. “Daenerys is so much a part of who I am, and I am so much a part of who she is, so it’s this incredibly frightening thing to walk away from—but at the same time, unbelievably exciting.

Clarke will always be our Mother of Dragons.
