Emilia Clarke has filmed Dany’s last scene on Game of Thrones – and according to her, it effed her up

Through watching season after season of Game of Thrones over a span of more than half a decade, we’ve somewhat become immune to incredibly brutal scenes. Public beheadings? Throat slitting? Skull crushing? Incest? People getting burned to death by dragons? Meh, no biggie in Westeros. We can only assume that the actors also don’t bat an eyelash when it comes to filming these petrifying moments, but Emilia Clarke revealed that working on her final scene as Daenerys really took a toll on her.

The actress sat with Vanity Fair to promote her role in Solo: A Star Wars Story, but dropped a few GoT-related soundbites for close listeners to hear.

Apparently, Clarke has already shot Daenerys’s concluding moments and, well, the scenes weren’t as great as she hoped. “It f*cked me up,” she told the publication. “Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavor in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is.”

Mind you, those are her exact words, not ours. But what does it even mean, Emilia? What was so horrible about the scene that it made a lasting negative impact on you? Will our queen Khaleesi go rogue? Is she not the Westeros hero a lot of us hoped she would be? We need answers.

Obviously, the actress couldn’t divulge anything further. Everyone and their mother knows HBO is notorious for keeping things tightly under wraps. And besides, she’d probably get slain by her own dragons if she said anything more. But Clarke did reveal that she’s “doing all this weird shit” in the remaining episodes. “You’ll know what I mean when you see it,” she said.

OKAY, but we have a whole year (who knows, probably even more) before we get to see it. We’ll probably just sleep with our eyes open and speculate like crazy until then.

In a separate interview with The Herald Sun via Digital Spy, Clarke said that the Game of Thrones series finale will be divisive, and not something that everyone will love. “People will scream and people will say, ‘That’s exactly what I wanted,’” she said. “And some people will go, ‘Huh?’ – my mum, probably.”

Game of Thrones Season 8 is slated to premiere on HBO sometime in 2019, probably long after the winter has come and gone, but hey, we’re not complaining.
