Elon Musk accidentally tweeted out his phone number, and oops

It’s an error that anyone can make — even if you’re a tech mogul. Elon Musk accidentally tweeted his phone number, and while he made sure to delete it quick, his fanbase still managed to catch it in time. That’s probably one of the few downfalls of having over 16 million people following your Twitter account.

Musk got his start with a company called Zip2, which he started up with his brother. The company was known for building directories and maps for online use, serving somewhat like the yellow pages. Eventually, he sold to a division of Compaq Computers. But as is true with most inventors and entrepreneurs, the next big project was even more impressive. He founded a financial service company called X.com, which later turned into Paypal — one of the most common tools to send and receive money online. These days, Musk is known best for his work with Tesla Motors and SpaceX, the latter which manufactures spacecraft.

All that said, he still sometimes forgets when he’s using a DM and when he’s straight-up tweeting.

He was trying to get in touch with virtual reality engineer John Carmack. The tweet started with, “Do you have a sec to talk? My cell is…”

While it’s unclear as to whether or not they managed to connect, one thing’s for sure —  Musk’s outgoing message was pretty hilarious. CNBC gave him a ring after the tweet went live, and realized that it was an audio clip from the video game God of War. And not just any audio clip — a secret clip some players got after finishing the game.

We’re not sure if Musk is planning on changing his number, but it might be a good idea.
