Ellie Kemper is celebrating her first pregnancy in the BEST way
Ellie Kemper is having the best week ever: Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt premieres tomorrow on Netflix. What could be better news than that, you ask? Oh, just that Ellie and her husband Michael are expecting their first child!
The actress made the announcement last night on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, grinning from ear to ear and looking even more radiant than normal. Jimmy treated her to an early baby shower gift—a pint of his delicious Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, The Tonight Dough. Right away Ellie’s eyes lit up, and she gushed that the treat has been her go-to snack as of late.
“I love Ben and Jerry’s,” she told Jimmy, digging in. “I’m not just saying this because it’s your show. Tonight Dough is my favorite flavor. I’ve been having a pint every other night.”
The decadent flavor is what pregnancy cravings are made of: caramel and chocolate ice cream with chocolate cookie swirls, gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough and peanut butter cookie dough. Drool.
“I will probably fall asleep while I eat this, because it’s going to be like, a Pavlovian response,” she continued. “Because I fall asleep eating it at night.”
“It’s the greatest ice cream in the whole wide world,” Jimmy said. Then he joked, “Every baby turns out to be a genius if you eat it while you’re pregnant.”
We don’t know if Ellie is having a boy or a girl yet—she referred to the baby as “him or her”—but we can’t wait to meet her little mini me. After she indulged in some Tonight Dough, she talked about how hard it was to keep her pregnancy a secret on the set of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
