Ellie Goulding is engaged, and here’s everything we know
Summer 2018 strikes again. Ellie Goulding is engaged to boyfriend Caspar Jopling, adding to the rapidly growing list of celebrity engagements this year. The couple, who have been dating for over a year now, shared the happy news in the classiest way—via an announcement in London’s The Times newspaper.
“The engagement is announced between Caspar, son of The Hon Nicholas Jopling of Yorkshire and Mrs Jayne Warde-Aldam of Yorkshire, and Elena, daughter of Mr Arthur Goulding of Hertfordshire and Mrs Tracey Sumner of West Midlands,” the announcement read.
Fancy, huh? Announcing engagements in The Times is a classic English tradition that other celebrities, including Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, as well as Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter, have also participated in.
A source told The Sun that Goulding and Jopling broke the news to their friends and family first. The “Love Me Like You Do” singer is said to be “over the moon” and “has never felt so happy.”

Goulding’s engagement news comes 18 months after she began dating Jopling, an Eton-educated art dealer and former rower who represented Team Great Britain at the Youth Olympics in 2010. The two were first linked in April 2017 when they were spotted on a night out in Mayfair. They also recently moved in together and spend their time between London and New York City.
Though they’ve kept their romance out of the public eye, that hasn’t stopped them from sharing some lovey-dovey photos on social media.
Congrats to the happy couple!
