Ellen’s tribute to Barack and Michelle Obama will definitely bring you to tears
Well folks, today is Inauguration Day. And while we’re going to miss them tremendously, we’re so thankful for Ellen’s touching tribute to Barack and Michelle Obama, since it sums up everything we love about the two of them. Even though every sendoff has left us with a few tears, only Ellen DeGeneres can properly illustrate how fun-loving and sweet the Obamas truly are.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show has been going on for quite some time, and Barack and Michelle were no strangers to the set. The love definitely went both ways — you might remember that DeGeneres was a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom back in November.
That special bond is definitely portrayed in this video tribute. Grab a box of tissues, and enjoy this lovely sendoff.

We can watch that a million times. (We’ve already watched it around ten times, and the day is still young.)
The tribute was equal parts funny — like, when DeGeneres had the push-up contest with Michelle — and touching, like when DeGeneres talked a bit about how the family has personally made a difference in her life.
"I want to thank him for personally changing my life. I am a legally married woman because of him, and so is my wife," DeGeneres said. "His courage and compassion created equality for everyone."
DeGeneres also included footage of the moment on her show when same-sex marriage became legal — and since it was such a historical moment, it’s so incredible that she chose to include it.
"There have been moments in history when someone had the courage to stand up for what they believe in, and that one action changes everything," DeGeneres said to her audience. "It takes a brave man to take a stand like this."
And of course, we can’t forget about the time when Michelle served as co-host of show.
The hijinx that these two got into made all of us want to be BFFs with the FLOTUS.
There are so many magical moments, that it’s hard to pinpoint them all. We’re so thankful that Ellen DeGeneres and her team put such a beautiful video together, for all of us to enjoy.
And it should go without saying, but — we’re so proud of what Barack and Michelle Obama have accomplished throughout these past eight years, and want to thank them so much for being such inspirational people.
