Here’s Ellen, perfectly explaining why a woman should be on the $20 bill

Where are the ladies on our money? That’s what Ellen Degeneres wants to know.

A lot of talk has been going on about putting women on the $20 bill—and we could not be happier. The Women on 20s movement aims to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill with a powerful, influential women in history (they’ve narrowed down the selection to four women, thanks to voters!). Susan Sarandon recently stood up for the Women on 20s movement, and now, Ellen has too. On her talk show, she lays out the whole platform in the most amazing, feminist way. Of course, there’s a hilarious twist, because hey, we’re talking about Ellen here.

In regards to the Women on 20s effort (“They didn’t spend a lot of time on the name of their organization,” Ellen jokes), she claimed, “Pardon my French, but it’s about darn time. I think that’s French.”

In fact, when it comes to their time goal—they want the president to approve it in five years—Ellen joked, “I think it can happen faster than that, cause I got myself on the cover of O Magazine within a year. . .”

Ellen highlights that sure, there have been two women on coins, but that’s not enough. “I think I can speak for all women when I say, I think we can do more than feed meters,” she says, bringing the house down. “. . . First of all, it’s important for young women to have a constant reminder that there are amazing female role models and that they can do anything. Anything at all.”

“And it would show tremendous progress for women. . . we have come such a long way,” she adds. “I mean, here I am, a woman, wearing pants on national television, drunk as a skunk, gay is the day is long.” LOL.

Her perfect closing line to her amazing testament? “Let’s exercise a woman’s right to dance, shall we?”

Oh, Ellen. You are just perfection. Thanks for speaking out about such an important cause, all while making us laugh.
