Ellen’s perfect response to a homophobic article will make you slow-clap
Ellen DeGeneres admitted on her show this week that she doesn’t usually pay attention to what people write or say about her in the media, which we think is probably a healthy way to live, especially if people are being negative and flat-out mean. But there was one news story she couldn’t ignore.
Last week, Pastor Larry Tomczak wrote a bigoted opinion piece in the Christian Post titled, Are You Aware of the Avalanche of Gay Programming Assaulting Your Home?, wherein he listed TV shows he believes are pushing a “gay agenda.” Here’s the ludicrous thing he wrote about Ellen in particular: “‘Ellen DeGeneres’ celebrates her lesbianism and ‘marriage’ in between appearances of guests like Taylor Swift to attract young girls.” (Note the multiple unnecessary quotes, along with the offensive suggestion.)
So, Ellen did what Ellen does best — in the opening monologue on her show, she gracefully responded with humor and sincerity, and revealed her real (kind human) agenda: “Attention youth of the world. I want you to live your lives being exactly who you are. . . The most important thing is that you be true to yourself. The second most important thing is that you wear Ellen underwear.” She also clarified this: “I’m not ‘married,’ I’m married.”
