Ellen Pao is writing a memoir about the tech industry’s “toxic culture”

You likely know Ellen Pao’s name because of a lawsuit. Last year the former Reddit CEO, lost an extremely high-profile gender-based discrimination lawsuit against the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins. Even though she didn’t win, her case sparked a much-needed conversation about the rampant diversity problem in Silicon Valley.

In addition to losing that case, Pao’s efforts to expand diversity in tech were also thwarted at Reddit where she stepped down as interim CEO after, as Vanity Fair put it, “factions of the online community revolted against her decision to shut down subreddits that encouraged harassment.” These setbacks haven’t stopped her though, and Pao is continuing this diversity conversation by writing a memoir about her experiences.

Pao’s Reset will be “a fearless first-person account exposing the toxic culture that pervades the tech industry and defined her experiences both as a Kleiner Perkins venture capitalist and Reddit CEO,” Random House said in a press release.
