The cool reason Ellen DeGeneres created her new clothing line

Is there anything Ellen DeGeneres can’t do? Apparently not. Her clothing line, GapKids x ED launches this Friday, and it’s happening for the best reason. I’ll let Ellen, who spoke to Mashable about her idea, take it away:

For those who don’t know, Ellen came out all the way back in 1997, when being out as a celebrity was not super common. Her courage knows no bounds, and she’s bringing that power to her collection.

Clothes are a big part of how we express ourselves, and if we can’t find clothes that are really us, then it can sometimes feel like we don’t know who we are. This collection is a part of the #heyworld campaign, which is all about showing the world exactly who you are. It’s about embracing what makes you unique. The cool thing about this campaign is that anyone can use the hashtag to give some words of encouragement to those who may need it.

We got a sneak peak of the collection back in July, and these super fun Instagrams are only getting us more excited:

Literally, there’s no better person than Ellen to have as a role model, and we’re so excited that kids are learning the lesson that Ellen never got the chance to experience at their age. It’s all about acceptance, and knowing that who you are is beautiful — no matter what.
