Elle Fanning reveals why she doesn’t have a Facebook, but does have an Instagram account
Not everyone is into social media, and we understand the (non) appeal. Actress, Elle Fanning reveals why she doesn’t have Facebook in a new interview, but is all for Instagram and we see where she’s coming from.
The 18-year-old actress admits she was a little late to the social media game, getting a public Instagram account in honor of her birthday back in April 2016, but the most surprising thing is that she’s never had a Facebook page.
Sure, Fanning is still very young, but she’s been in the limelight since she was a child, as has her big sis, Dakota Fanning. Despite being very public in regards to her work and having cameras follow her, she doesn’t see the appeal of having a Facebook page.
Plus, it was not allowed by her parents, and now that we think about it they were right.
"Well, my parents never let me have a Facebook account," Fanning told C Magazine in their latest issue via Teen Vogue.
So if you’ve been following the actress on Facebook, it hasn’t ever been her! Seriously, she’s never had one, so don’t think you’re BFFs with Fanning because you’re friends on Facebook, because it’s an imposter.
Fanning does however have the now-public Instagram account, which she created after dabbling in the private social media world for a while.
"I had a private Instagram, but I was always a little intimidated by it," she explained. "I have never had a Twitter account. People just argue on Twitter and I want to stay away."
So why does she have that funky and fun Instagram account?
"I guess I like Instagram because I am a visual person," she said.
The Maleficent star also told the magazine about her hopes and dreams in the entertainment world and based on her career goals, keeping her life as private as possible seems like a great idea.
"[I hope] to be a director one day, to feel so free to invent stuff…To have something that's mine, my own thing that I pour myself into, that's my dream," Fanning said.
The fact that Fanning is already a mega star in the acting world and she’s only 18 makes us believe she can do anything she puts her mind to.
