Elizabeth Warren is running for president, and HALLELUJAH!
2018 is ending on a (much needed) high note: Senator Elizabeth Warren has basically just announced she’s running for president. And by “basically” we mean that today, Monday, December 31st, Warren announced that she is “establishing an exploratory committee” to consider the 2020 bid…which is political-speak for the fact that she’s more than likely running.
Warren announced the news via a video she shared on both social media and email, saying, "Our government is supposed to work for all of us, but instead, it has become a tool for the wealthy and well-connected. If we organize together, if we fight together, if we persist together, we can win."

Warren just won her reelection campaign for a six-year term as Senator in Massachusetts, where she ran on a platform of making government work for everyone—not just the wealthy. Some speculate that her commitment to correcting systemic-based wealth disparity will draw comparisons to democratic socialist Bernie Sanders, but Warren identifies as a capitalist. “I am a capitalist,” she said during an interview with CNBC in July. “I believe in markets. What I don’t believe in is theft.” Warren is also a strong ally of the LGBTQ+ community and has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump’s most hateful and dangerous rhetoric.
Warren has integrity, passion, and a true desire to right the wrongs of the last several years (slash decades), and we couldn’t be more excited for this news.
