“Elf” isn’t going to be on TV in the UK this year, and people are VERY upset

We have some bad news for you guys in the United Kingdom. Elf isn’t going to be on television this year. I know, as if this year couldn’t get any worse. The Will Ferrell comedy about Buddy, the human raised by elves has become a modern Christmas classic. It’s one of those movies that never gets old and is entertaining no matter what point of the movie you tune in at. And given what a total dumpster fire this year has been, we could use a little dose of Buddy’s offbeat positivity and maybe even a serving of his syrup coated spaghetti.

To say that people are miffed would be an understatement. When the television schedule for the holidays was released, people took to Twitter to voice their displeasure. false false

The rights to the film changed hands from Channel 4 to Sky Cinema a few years ago, but it looks like no one has them anymore. When asked about it back in November, representatives for Sky told a fan that it would air, just not on their channels.

But in some crazy mixup, it looks like Channel 4 didn’t get the rights either. So no one network can legally air the movie. Meanwhile, the only people who are happy are those smart ones who loved the film enough to buy it on DVD.

In the meantime, you can still get it on iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon if you need a dose of Elf across the pond
