Eddie Redmayne became a dad for the first time just in time for Father’s Day

Eddie Redmayne just received the best Father’s Day gift ever.

The star of The Danish Girl and his wife, Hannah Bagshawe, welcomed a baby girl, Iris May Redmayne, into their family on Wednesday, June 15. Eddie and Hannah were married in December of 2014, about two years after they started dating. Since then, they’ve been pretty much inseparable — you can spot her by his side at many awards shows — and now, they’ve added a little one to their love nest. Aww.

As far as how this charmed baby is going to grow up, Eddie says that he and Hannah want to keep it simple — but that’s not to say that they don’t have a realistic expectation of what’s to come.

“We have this sort of dream of like wooden toys, and all that,” Eddie told E! News. “And everyone’s like, ‘Yeah you always start off like that, but you end up with like iPhones!’”

It sounds like they’re going to do just fine — after all, a sense of humor is key to successful parenting. Happy Father’s Day, Eddie!
