Ed Sheeran just dropped his new video for “Lay It All On Me” (and we’re swooning)

Sheerios (yes, Ed Sheeran fans have a name, and we heart it) have been on an emotional rollercoaster over the past month or so. On September 22nd, he gave us some massively bittersweet news: That in October, he’ll be releasing a brand new single with Rudimental called “Lay It All On Me”. . . and that will be the last song he’ll be releasing for a “long time.” Happy face, sad face.

Naturally, when it was released, we LOVED the track. Powerful instrumentals with gorgeous vocals (obviously) that made us want to dance — we couldn’t get enough of it. And neither could anyone else, since it was streamed over 30 million times on Spotify and hit No. 62 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, making it Rudimental’s highest-charting single in America.

Now, the official video for “Lay It All On Me” has been released, and it’s something dreams are made out of. Ed took to Twitter this morning to tweet the black-and-white video that has got us totally captivated.

The video’s overriding feel is that of contrast and contradiction, featuring images of piles of garbage bags surrounded by butterflies and a ballerina screaming into a microphone. But the overriding message? Hope. As Ed sings, his face faded behind light and stormclouds, the video oozes drama. Ed also took to Twitter today to announce that X has been on UK’s top 10 for more time than any record ever:

Even if he’s not coming out with any new stuff soon, all of this can carry us Cheerios until the next day full of Ed Sheeran wonders. Check out the video below and be prepared to be transfixed (and have “Lay It All On Me” stuck in your head all day).
