Ed Sheeran helped his friend propose in the most swoon-worthy way

Ed Sheeran clearly knows his way around romance. Just listen to any one of these songs — “Thinking Out Loud,” “Lego House,” even his new single, “Photograph” — and you’ll realize he’s got a soft spot for feels. That’s why over the weekend, on one of Sheeran’s days off from being a rock star, he traveled five hours to help one of his best mates propose to his girlfriend — or, now fiancée, because she said yes.

The happy couple in question are none other than Rixton’s Jack Roche and Jesy Nelson from the band Little Mix. The band Rixton was on the road with Sheeran for the past few months, opening for him on his North American Tour. Clearly, Sheeran and the guys from Rixton became close, I mean, Jack asked Ed to help with the most important of tasks!

Little Mix was performing at the Manchester Arena Sunday night, but during the band’s sound check, Roche made his way onto the stage. He also invited his surprise guest, Sheeran, on stage too, to provide a little background music while he popped the big question. The song? An acoustic version of “Tenerife Sea,” according to the BBC.

“A year ago today I met her at Manchester arena, so it was only right, with a little help from my friend, that this happened,” Roche wrote as the caption for an adorable Instagram picture, “Best day of my life.”

Though it might be hard to repay this huge favor, Roche at least tried to repay Sheeran for his services — with food.

Amazing job helping out with this proposal, Sheeran, and so many happy congrats to the new couple! Seeing as how Sheeran is a huge in-demand star, they might want to lock him down as their wedding singer ASAP.
