This Ed Sheeran pig statue (you read that right) sold for $8,000 for a very worthy cause
Ever since Ed Sheeran and Kermit the Frog performed a song together, we assumed they formed a lifelong alliance. But the singer’s amphibian associate might not be too pleased to learn that an Ed Sheeran pig statue sold for over $8,000, NY Mag reports.
Appropriately named “Ed Sheer-ham,” the singer’s ceramic replica sports all of his features down to the tousled red hair, plaid shirt and jeans and, yes, the pig also bears Sheeran’s tattoos. According to the BBC, the pig statue was one of 39 sculptures that went up for bid at an auction in Ipswich that will donate the proceeds to an area hospice.

Whoa! Ed Sheer-ham is giving us flashbacks of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, but we have to say it’s way less nightmarish than the scary Lucille Ball statue.
Among the other pig statues up for sale were Piggy Stardust, a tribute to David Bowie and another ceramic porker dubbed Elvis Porksley. Naturally though, Sheeran only had eyes for his pig twinsie, calling it “awesome” and hoping it would be “huge hit.”
As much as we love Kermit, we have to side with the singer. There’s no denying that Sheer-ham is truly some pig.
