Everyone’s talking about Ed Sheeran’s new tattoo. We say, you do you.

Ed Sheeran got a brand new tattoo, but this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. The singer is not only known for his achingly beautiful songs, but also for his impressive tattoo sleeves. He actually has his tattoos divided between their meanings: the left arm is for reserved for things to remind him of his singles and work achievements; while the right arm is devoted to tattoos with more personal meanings (like one for his mum).

However, this brand new tattoo is on neither arm. It’s somewhere right in between them, because it holds a much different meaning. As you might have heard (through excited Sheeran fans) he just recently played three sold-out concerts at Wembley Stadium in London. As Sheeran mentioned in a statement about the concert, “I can’t say that performing at Wembley Stadium was a ‘dream come true,’ because I honestly thought it was out of reach and didn’t think it was possible.”

But, Ed, anything is possible for you. You came, you sang, you conquered. To commemorate that Sheeran got a brand new lion tattoo, since Wembley is home to the English National Team, and their mascot is a lion. And since this new ink didn’t go on his arms, where did he put it? Right smack dab in the middle of his chest, of course. A giant, colored and detailed lion. Because it’s… close to his heart, we’re assuming.

Sheeran explained to the BBC that this wasn’t his first idea. “Originally I was going to get the [Wembley] floor plan tattooed on my side, but that seemed a bit ridiculous.”

The lion is… a bold statement, but we’re all for that. You do what makes you happy, Ed, and we’re going to keep on blasting “Don’t” on repeat. The lion’s king of the jungle, Sheeran is king of the music charts, it can work more ways than one, yeah?
