Fans think Ed Sheeran may already be married, and we’re adjusting our detective’s monocle
We were overjoyed when singer Ed Sheeran announced his engagement to longtime love Cherry Seaborn. But the musician has been spotted wearing a ring on *that* finger, adding to speculation that they may have already secretly tied the knot. Since many celebrities opt for private nuptials, fans were a little worried that the magical moment might have passed us by. But, have no fear — the redheaded rocker set the record straight.
Known for wearing rings, this isn’t the first time that Sheeran has had to battle the “are you married” question — and that may be why he was quick to respond that he’s not. But the ring still has a lot of significance for him, and it’s important to Seaborn that he wears it in public.
"I never saw why men didn't wear engagement rings. It's the same commitment either way," he told reporters on the red carpet at the 2018 BRIT Awards, where he was nominated in five categories.
He makes a good point. And we’re basically cheering right now. Plus, the ring was a homemade gift from Seaborn herself, adding extra meaning.
"Cherry made it for me herself out of silver clay. I really like it. I haven't told anyone that, either," he joked.

Sheeran proposed to Seaborn at the end of 2017, and announced the news on social media, exclaiming “Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well.”
The two have known each other since high school but managed to reconnect around 2015, according to People.
We know that when the big day happens, it’s going to be lovely. And hopefully Sheeran and Seaborn share a pic or two (or more!).
