Ed Sheeran just blew us away this morning
If you’re an early riser, you might have caught Ed Sheeran’s phenomenal performance on Good Morning America this morning. Don’t worry if you’re someone who likes to hit the snooze button a hundred times and slept through the whole thing — we’ve got your GMA Sheeran goodness right here.
GMA has started its concert series for the summer, and Friday morning, six-time Grammy nominee Sheeran took to their stage in Central Park and sang for a packed crowd of screaming fans.
This was his first time performing for GMA, but you’d never know. He also took to the stage by himself, without a backup band, and used his familiar looper pedal to make it seem like he’s got amazing friends with him. Nope, it’s just Sheeran, all by himself, with a guitar, singing his hits like, “Don’t,” “Thinking Out Loud,” and his newest single, “Photograph.”
Sheeran has been on tour all over lately. The night before, he performed a cover version of 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” at the Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York, which, yes please. But for this set he opted to just play his own songs, a thing that does not make us sad at all.
The US Women’s National Soccer Team was also in attendance, and got to share the stage with Sheeran for a bit. I’m now even more jealous of very single one of them (for the insane soccer skills + being on stage with Sheeran). Basically, it was an amazing Friday morning in the Park.
You can check out Sheeran’s performance of “Don’t” and “Photograph” here, but watch him sing “Thinking Out Loud” right now, because it’s a great song, it’s his first #1 single in the US, and Sheeran is just plain amazing, OK? Are you kinda upset that you didn’t camp out all night for this concert? Who needs sleep when you can see Sheeran sing live?
