Ed Sheeran just made a huge announcement

Know what’s better than seeing Ed Sheeran in concert? Oh, wait, actually there is nothing better than seeing Ed Sheeran live in concert, since he’s a phenomenal performer. But, ticket prices are expensive and often hard to get, and on top of that you have to live by a venue where he’s performing. So here’s some good news for those of us who haven’t yet been able to experience one of our favorite singers live: Sheeran and NBC have partnered up to broadcast one of his biggest concerts on TV.

With Live from Wembley Stadium, we’re not only going to get his sold-out concert — or, concerts, because he played THREE — but also behind-the-scenes footage of Sheeran’s life leading up to the event. All three shows were sold out, so that means 240,000 excited Sheeran fans in the crowd. You bet his life was crazy leading up to that, and now we’ll have a chance to see it.

“I can’t say that performing at Wembley Stadium was a ‘dream come true,’ because I honestly thought it was out of reach and didn’t think it was possible,” Sheeran explained in a statement about the event, “It really doesn’t get any bigger than Wembley in my mind and it was an honor to join the select few that have headlined there. It’s definitely a personal milestone and I’m so glad to share this special moment with all of my fans.”

You’re glad? We’re ecstatic. This is the same concert that featured special guest Sir Elton John, and the two dueted on John’s “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and Sheeran’s, “Afire Love.”

And, the next best thing to seeing it live is seeing it from our living room couch, TBH. The hour-long special will air August 16th on NBC, so cancel all your other plans. You’ve got a date with Ed.
