Here’s how to eat like a Golden Globe nominee
It’s almost time: The Golden Globes are TONIGHT! Will Brie Larson win for Room? Will Leo win for The Revenant? Those questions will be answered soon enough. But first, let’s talk about what happens in the first part of the night. No, I’m not talking about walking the red carpet—I’m talking the swanky dinner party.
Tonight, the nominees will enjoy a three-course meal at the Beverly Hilton. And those three courses are packed! Overseeing the dinner are the hotel’s executive chef Toy N. Thompson and executive pastry chef Thomas Henzi. And it all sounds incredible.
The feast begins with a California market salad with eggplant, bok choy, daikon, lotus, mustard greens and ginger dressing. Next is a filet of beef with marinara crust, a slow-roasted black garlic steelhead salmon, spaghetti squash, fried capers and sweet potatoes. Or if you’re a vegetarian, salt-baked heirloom sweet potatoes with creamed corn glaze and a fricassee of winter vegetables.
And let’s not forget dessert: A trio of flourless Grand Marnier carmella, lemon mousseline croquantine and California almond cake. “We always have to have some chocolate!” said Henzi.
Win or lose, at least nominees get to enjoy a seriously delicious meal. And, of course, the champagne. All of the champagne will be flowing! It’s the thing Golden Globe acceptance speeches are made of.
