Here’s how to make Dunkaroos ice-cream without an ice-cream maker, because we need this ’90s treat in our lives

The word “Dunkaroos” instantly takes us back to our school cafeterias, where we’d look to the glorious sky and thank our parents if we happened to find these treats in our lunch boxes. Then, we’d quietly hide the snacks from our tablemates and sneak a bite every now and then – because sharing Dunkaroos is basically impossible.

Thanks to Delish, we’re now reminiscing about this time in our lives because they just released their recipe for Dunkaroos ice-cream! The best part: it does not require an ice-cream machine and it’s super simple to create.

Now, let’s take a look at the ingredients we’ll need to make this culinary magic happen:

  • 3 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups of roughly chopped Birthday Cake Teddy Grahams + more for garnish
  • 1/2 cup of rainbow sprinkles + more for garnish
  • 1/4 cup of cream cheese frosting
  • 2 tablespoons of birthday cake mix (ex: Funfetti)

Let’s begin!

Step 1: Place your heavy cream in a bowl and whisk it until stiff peaks appear. A standing mixer would be best, though you can whisk by hand (it may take a while). Tip: place your bowl in the freezer for a bit beforehand, to assist the peeks in forming

Step 2: Add the entire can of sweetened condensed milk to your whipped heavy cream. Mix until these two ingredients are combined.

Step 3: Add the chopped Teddy Grahams and rainbow sprinkles to the whipped cream/sweetened condensed milk concoction. Blend until combined (and admire the fun pops of color!).

Step 4: In a separate bowl, add the cream cheese frosting and birthday cake mix. Combine them together.

Step 5: Add the birthday cake/cream cheese frosting mixture to the other, whipped cream-based bowl. Join these two beautiful substances in food matrimony.

Step 6: Pour your final mixture into a loaf pan. For easy cleanup, you can line the pan with plastic wrap. Then, smooth out the top of the mix and generously dust it with leftover Teddy Grahams and sprinkles.

Step 7: Freeze your loaf pan for 5 hours or until the mix is firm. (You may want to stick a toothpick inside to make sure the entire ice-cream loaf has set.)
