Dua Lipa dyed her hair a bold new color at home—with help from her boyfriend

The longer we’re all self-quarantining due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the more creative we’re getting with how to pass our time. The latest way to spend an afternoon at home? Dyeing hair. Hilary Duff debuted a bold blue bob, Elle Fanning went peachy pink, and now Dua Lipa is joining the bright-hair community. Yesterday, April 15th, the singer revealed cotton-candy pink hair.
In an Instagram post captioned “quarantine diaries,” Dua Lipa explained that “this week’s experiment” was pink hair.
The Future Nostalgia singer posted two videos showing off her new color. She streaked the top of her previously blonde head with a bright bubblegum pink. Because her hair is tied up in two high buns in the videos, we can see her brown roots underneath. She also shared a picture of her boyfriend, Anwar Hadid (Gigi and Bella Hadid’s brother), applying the hair dye. He’s wearing gloves and spreading the pink dye through her hair as she takes a mirror selfie. Honestly, he looks like a pro, and the final result is impressive.
The sixth picture in Lipa’s Instagram post shows her pink bangs loose in front of her face as she does a workout with friends over Zoom.
We’re loving the messy bangs, and the bubblegum-pink color is fitting for Lipa’s playful style.
The star is no stranger to bold beauty choices: Between her hair and makeup looks, Lipa has never been afraid to mix things up. Recently, though, she’s maintained her blonde bob, styling it in retro looks with barrettes, high ponies, and the aid of a crimper. So this drastic change is slightly shocking, but hey, it’s quarantine—what else do people have to do?
Celebs, keep the hair transformations coming. The more we see, the more tempted we are to dye our hair ourselves.
