We rounded up our fave dry shampoos for natural hair, and they’re all under $20
Let’s talk about dry shampoo. For the longest time, natural and curly haired brands completely ignored dry shampoo in an act of brutal unfairness. Why should we — who often have wash day routines lasting hours — be denied a miracle invention designed to make scalp cleansing easier? Dry shampoos and natural hair belong together. We would like to prolong wash day an extra day or so if possible, we need some damn dry shampoos, too.
If you have textured hair, you’re more than welcome to use the average dry shampoo. They’ll work but, in most cases, since they’re designed to be brushed out, you’ll be left with a ton of residue and the difficult task of brushing out your curls. (Well hello there, frizz. We meet again.)
If you’re more of a finger comber than a brusher outer, you’re gonna want a dry shampoo designed for kinky, coily, curly, textured hair. What makes them better? They moisturize (curls love moisture) and they tend to be on the lighter side because brushing out product would be awful and utterly time-consuming for tight curls. Nope, we need formulas that leave no residue, hydrate hair and scalps, and won’t undo our expertly applied LOC methods.

Cantu’s dry shampoo is great for locs, ‘fro’s, and straight styles. Part dry shampoo, part conditioner, this baby treats while it cleans.

If your hair is on the finer side, try this dry shampoo by Shea Moisture. It has a fruit-infused coconut water base and adds volume at the root.
