Drew Barrymore has one major fear about dating apps, and we bet it’s the same one you have

We feel like we’ve grown up with Drew Barrymore. We were obsessed with her as kids in E.T. She basically defined romance for us in Never Been Kissed and Ever After. She was the first person to scare our pants off in a horror movie in the iconic first scene of Scream. Because Barrymore’s career was so formative re: so many of our personhoods, we take her heartbreaks extra hard.

And Drew Barrymore recently went through a doozy of a heartbreak.

As People reports, last summer, she split up with her husband Will Kopelman after 4 years of marriage. Together, they have two daughters, Olive, 4, and Frankie, 3.

Barrymore recently guested on a special Sirius XM Town Hall, where she confessed that in no way ready to jump back into the dating scene.

As People reports, she told Andy Cohen, “No, I’m not ready. I’m not open to it. I’m just still in shock about everything. It’s going to take awhile.

Or, to quote her Scream character:

We one-HUNDRED percent get it. We also get why Drew Barrymore would be wary of modern dating. She knows that dating apps are “the current thing,” and she even knows which app she’d probably use.

She said, "...if you want to date an actor or musician, they’re all on Raya. It’s like looking through a SAG portfolio and going, ‘I want to date him.’

She admits that she has a pretty major reservation about online dating, an extremely relatable fear.

“My concern with the dating app is always like am I going to be that person that classically meets a psycho and then I end up murdered that night. So that alone was a turn off, she said

Okay, so she’s quasi-joking here, but it’s a joke so many of us have also made that is also secretly a not-insignificant fear we harbor.

In the interview, Barrymore also waxes nostalgic for old-fashioned dating technology.

She added, “I remember when you were just waiting for that phone to ring and you were worried because you would miss their call, and then the answering machine manifested and it was tapes and you…kept checking the tape. There’s a part of me that still dates from that perspective and I can’t stand when people want to talk on the phone all the time or text or email."

But seriously, we wish Barrymore the very best moving forward and we hope the dating thing all comes together for her when the time is right.
