You’re not alone if you thought Drake was going to propose to Rihanna last night
You guys. How cute were Drake and RiRi at the VMAs last night?
Drake, suited up in the sharpest tux ever, presented Rihanna with the Vanguard Award at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards—and the whole thing was 100% rom-com-a-licious.
He started off by sharing the sweet story of how they first met, in 2005: He was singing background music at a Toronto restaurant, and she came in to film the video for “Pon De Replay,” her breakout hit.
Drake then went on to praise Rihanna’s talents and her sense of style, saying she “makes it seem so effortless, until you try and do it yourself.” At which point, this happened:
Them, after listing her accomplishments and all the reasons she deserves this award, Drake said,
“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old.”
And that’s when the internet exploded.
Everyone thought Drake was going to propose to Rihanna.
