Drake gave a literal shout-out to Arya Stark in his BBMAs acceptance speech, and we’re here for it
Since Game of Thrones brought us Season 8 Episode 3 on April 28th, fans have been talking nonstop about Arya Stark‘s most badass moment to date. And even Drake is celebrating. The rapper gave Arya a personal shout-out when he took to the stage at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.
Drake took home 12 awards at the May 1st ceremony (including Top Artist and Top Male Artist). His acceptance speech for Billboard Top 200 Album (Scorpion) began fairly normal enough: “Thank you to everybody who gave me their time, their energy, stayed away from their family and friends while we were trying to complete this,” he said, per CNN. “I always had a dream of doing a double album and I finally did it so now I’ll never do it again.”
But then Drake turned his attention to our favorite Westerosi assassin.
"Hey, shout-out to Arya Stark for putting in that work last week," he added.
And GoT fans were into it.
Others worried that Drake’s seal of approval might spell doom for Arya. As the Los Angeles Times notes, when the rapper supports a sports team, they don’t tend to do well.
Let’s hope this isn’t the case. We don’t think we could handle a world (even a fictional world) where Arya doesn’t make it.
