The vampires are afoot, because the “Sherlock” team is going to make a Dracula mini-series

Just months after *that* mind-blowing Season 4 finale, the Sherlock geniuses are reuniting for a Dracula series. PRAISE BE!

He vants to suck your blood!

While negotiations with the BBC are still underway, it appears that the creators of the beloved BBC detective series, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, will write the series. Sherlock producer (and Moffat’s wife) Sue Vertue will produce the adaptation of the classic Bram Stoker novel with her company Hartswood Films.

According to reports, the new Dracula adaptation will get the Sherlock treatment, consisting of just a handful of feature-length episodes. While it’s unknown whether or not Dracula will be reappearing in the modern era — as opposed to his 1890s setting in Stoker’s novel — if anyone can bring a character from the 1890s to modern day, it’s Moffat and Gatiss.

Stoker’s 1897 novel follows the titular vampire as he leaves his Transylvanian home and travels to England in search of some fresh blood. In England, he chooses the wrong target and winds up being hunted by a group of vampire hunters. While no scripts have currently been written, it appears that the Dracula series could air as soon as 2019.

Variety, who broke the news, revealed that the BBC is eager to work with Moffat and Gatiss as Sherlock has been one of their biggest international hits — and trust us, BBC, we feel the same way.

As for that beloved detective series, Moffat and Gatiss recently revealed that there are not any current plans for another season of Sherlock, but said there could be a fifth season in the future.

Not gonna lie, we’re so sad that there isn’t an upcoming season of Sherlock to look forward to, but we have a feeling that this Dracula series could be exactly what’s missing in our lives.

While we know that the series won’t be cast for some time, we can’t wait to see who plays the iconic Dracula, Van Helsing, Jonathan Harker, and the rest of the characters from the beloved series! 2019, please come quick!
