Doug Jones’ gay son gave Mike Pence so much side-eye, and Twitter is obsessed

On Wednesday, January 3rd, the new Senator of Alabama Doug Jones brought his son, Carson, to his swearing-in ceremony. In a now-viral picture, Carson (who is an openly gay man), was caught giving homophobic Vice President Mike Pence major side-eye. And Twitter is here for it.

As many readers may already be aware, Pence has one of the worst records on equality of any recent U.S. president or vice president and is no friend to the LGBTQ community. During his first run for Congress in 2000, he suggested that the government defund HIV/AIDs funding in favor of “conversion therapy.” (Conversion therapy being the practice of trying to change someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity).

Just last year, he signed Indiana’s controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act, giving businesses the right to discriminate against gay people on the grounds of religion.

Well, there’s an old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words, and this photo speaks for itself. Carson posted a picture of the moment his father was sworn in on Instagram alongside the hashtag #nocaptionneeded – and people could not help but notice his “death glare.”

The look is priceless. And the internet’s reaction is perhaps even better.

Jones was sworn in as a U.S. Senator after beating anti-LGBT Republican Roy Moore in the election last month. Following his father’s win, Carson opened up about his sexuality in an interview with INTO, saying that his parents have  “always been really supportive” of him.

It’s safe to say that Carson’s look is ALL of us today.
