Donald Trump went to Mar-a-Lago for the weekend, and March For Our Lives protesters followed him

Saturday, March 24th marked the official March for Our Lives protest. There were numerous marches across the nation (and around the world) consisting of millions of people. Everyone banded together to fight gun violence after the mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Simply put, most of us are sick of children dying when they are simply going to school. Gun violence does not begin and end in schools, but it is particularly horrifying when children are shot as they are simply trying to learn. The March For Our Lives will likely be an annual event and will continue to add to the conversation about gun reform in America. We have had #Enough.
However, not everyone participated in the protests or even acknowledged them. Donald Trump spent his weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort. The President is pretty infamous for golfing and spending way too much of American tax money vacationing at Mar-a-Lago. While the President was away, however, protestors pushed back. The rally in West Palm Beach, Florida was mighty close to his getaway. So local March For Our Lives protestors paid Trump a visit.
About 2,000 March For Our Lives protestors took their signs over to Mar-a-Lago.
Chanting powerful statements like “How many more?” and “Save children, not guns,” the protestors forced Trump to think about what he was doing.
BuzzFeed reports that while protesters were marching, Trump was golfing at the Trump International golf club. He returned to Mar-a-Lago in the afternoon and reportedly will stay there for the rest of the weekend. His motorcade took a different route to the resort, likely to avoid protestors.
Though the rally did not coincide with Trump, the effort is admirable.
The President has to be aware of the march. But he still has yet to make a statement.
President Trump is already infamous for golfing too much and taking too much vacation time.
Though he’s only been President for *shudders* a whole year, BuzzFeed reports that Trump has spent 135 days at Trump properties instead of the White House.
This fight is important, and we wish our government would back it. To the victims of gun violence, the survivors, and everyone who showed up to march yesterday, we stand with you.
