A picture of Donald Trump surrounded by world leaders at the G7 summit is going viral, and Twitter has jokes

President Donald Trump handled the 2018 G7 summit in his typical bombastic fashion: arriving late, departing early, and leaving a trail of bad blood in his wake.

Tensions were already running high before Trump arrived in Quebec on Friday, June 8th for the annual meeting of the Group of Seven, a collective made up of the world’s richest countries. As part of Trump’s “America first” approach, the president imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from some of America’s closest allies. Both Canada and the European Union responded with announcements of their own tariffs.

Needless to say, trade meetings held during the G7 summit were fraught with hostility, according to The New York Times.

“Mr. Trump confronted several of the leaders individually, giving examples of how, in his view, each of their countries had mistreated the United States, whether it be through trade barriers or security commitments,” the Times reported.

Trump’s foreign counterparts have also disagreed with the U.S. president’s decisions to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal and the Paris climate accord.

On Saturday, June 9th, the office of German Chancellor Angela Merkel released an incredible photo that perfectly summed up the tension between Donald Trump and other world leaders at the G7 summit.

The image quickly went viral, and Twitter was eager to join in on the fun.

Some pointed out the sheer beauty of the image.

Others thought Trump looked like a child getting lectured.

One reaction in particular showed just how much things have changed since Trump took office.

Sigh. Anyone else missing Barack Obama right about now?
