Donald Glover opens up about playing Lando in “Star Wars” and we’re even MORE excited now

We love love love Donald Glover — from his days on Community to his stand-up comedy routines. He is one fun-ny and talented guy.

And now, he’s going to play Lando Calrissian, a space smuggler, in Lucasfilm’s upcoming Han Solo Star Wars spinoff movie (exact title TBD).

He’ll be in the film along with Alden Ehrenreich, who will play Han Solo. In it, we’ll see Lando’s life way before the days of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

We were excited to hear the Lando/Star Wars news, but now we’re even ~more excited~ to hear Glover open up about the role on The Ellen Show. It’s the first interview he’s done since the news came out, reported Nerdist.

In the interview, you can see Glover’s excitement about being cast in the movie — awww — which is yet another reason we love him: his down-to-earth-ness.

On being cast, he said, “It’s really crazy… I’m very, like, honored… it’s a very big deal.

We’ll say!

Glover also mentioned a photo that’s going around — of him back in high school wearing a Star Wars tee-shirt. Yup. You can’t make this stuff up.

Obvs, he’s been a Star Wars fan for a while. Plus, Lando was the first toy he ever had, Glover told Ellen.

Of course, before we see Glover in this new Star Wars movie, we’ve been watching him on FX’s Atlanta. ICYMI — and you really shouldn’t — the show follows two cousins (one played by Glover) who work in the Atlanta music scene, all while trying to make better lives for themselves and their families.

Glover not only stars in the show, but he also writes, produces, and directs it. Oh, and did we mention he created it, too?

Yup, there’s no doubt that Glover’s def a guy with many talents.

But before you hit up FX, here’s Glover’s interview with Ellen.
