Donald Glover is Simba in Disney’s live-action “Lion King,” and don’t tell us you didn’t just put one hand over your heart
Prepare for some intense whiplash jumping from Cloud City and Pride Rock. But, if there’s anyone who can handle the switch between these two iconic locations, it’s Donald Glover. Our favorite future Lando Calrissian was just cast as Simba in Disney’s upcoming live-action Lion King, and excuse us while scream about this for the next few hours.
Like many other OG Disney movies, The Lion King is getting a live-action update, and no, we’re not exactly sure how it’s going to work (Maybe like the Jungle Book? But then again, have you SEEN Beauty and the Beast’s Lumière?). The movie is being helmed by Iron Man’s Jon Favreau, who made the announcement on his Twitter.
Short and simple, Donald Glover just can’t wait to be king. Lol, we see what you did there.

Donald is quickly turning into one of the busiest men in Hollywood. Maybe you first came across him on NBC’s beloved Community, but he departed the show in the fifth season to focus on his music career, under the name Childish Gambino. Then, he decided to take his talents back to the small screen with his Golden Globe winning series, Atlanta. If that’s not enough, he’s in the Young Han Solo movie as Lando, and has a top secret role in Spider-Man: Homecoming. And that’s only just scratching the surface of everything he has a hand in right now.
So sure, go ahead and add in a trip to the elephant graveyard, too.
If you’re still busy reeling from this announcement, it actually gets better. Since there is literally no one else on the planet who could ever play *the* lion king Mufasa, James Earl jones is returning to the role he originated. Favreau tweeted this news shortly after the Donald announcement, and this right here is making our heads spin.
Looking forward to working with this legend. #Mufasa pic.twitter.com/1LszbWrcYT

Honestly, we’re going to need to sit down for a little bit, because this is too much for our hearts. We’re feeling SO MUCH love in the air tonight.
