Donald Glover is throwing major shade at “Deadpool” in a series of tweets, so maybe don’t doubt his work ethic ever again

FX announced over the weekend that it was killing plans for its Marvel Deadpool animated series that had been in the works, with Donald Glover and his brother, Stephen, serving as writers, executive producers, and showrunners. After that news broke, Glover took to Twitter on Tuesday with his own meta take on the project’s demise. In a series of tweets, Glover shared 15 pages of a shade-laden animated Deadpool script that pairs the hero’s signature adult snark with speculation that the cancellation may have been racially charged.

Glover, who isn’t a big Twitter guy — really, these are now the only tweets on his timeline — started his thread by explaining, “For the record: I wasn’t too busy to work on Deadpool.” (For the record, it would be understandable if he was — the guy’s starring in Emmy-winning Atlanta, voicing Simba in the live action Lion King, AND playing Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo Star Wars spinoff, among other projects). But no, Glover suggested he could have fit in Deadpool. But judging by the tone of the script that followed, the “creative differences” FX cited in its weekend announcement about the show must have been more serious. false

Glover, by way of Deadpool, fit in shots at Jennifer Lawrence, the Chainsmokers, bitcoin, Facebook, and goat yoga in the script. But he saved some special scorn for Marvel and those who backed out of the show.

"Do you think they canceled the show because of racism?!" Deadpool asks Sudan. "Yeah, all the writers were black. The references were pretty black, too. I heard they went over lunch budget ordering Jamaican food at least once a week."

Deadpool goes on to single out Marvel by name, saying the character’s musings about the comic book brand might explain why this version of the show was canned: “All I said was Marvel was trying to sell toys to seven year old boys and fifty year old pedophiles. That’s just funny. They’re cool. They get it.” Awkwardddd.

Marvel and FX haven’t commented on Glover’s posts. But Glover, at least, seems to have gotten everything off his chest.
