This adorable dog was mistaken for a home intruder by its owners and we can’t stop LOLing

Even though he doesn’t look like he’d hurt a flea, this adorable dog who was mistaken for a home intruder by its owner almost wound up with a criminal record. Sonoma County Sheriff’s officers responded to a 911 call from an 18-year-old California man who reported strange noises inside his home. While he panicked and called for backup, his other dogs barked at the mysterious sounds, which obviously meant there was a burglar ransacking his home…except that actually wasn’t the case at all.

Upon arriving on the scene of what they believed to be a crime in progress, police told The Dodo that it wasn’t long before they traced the source of the noises to the owner’s Great Dane that was spotted poking his head through the skylight. As it turns out, the precious pooch was indulging in a little solo doggie chill time and the other barking dogs wanted in.

TFW you’re caught red-handed:

And you have absolutely no clue why the whole world is watching your every move:

"One of the deputies outside the house heard this scratching noise," Sheriff Spencer Crum said. "He shined his light around the house and saw this dog sticking his head out a skylight on the roof. The deputy said — and I quote — 'At that point we ditched all tactics and died laughing.'"

Aw, poor doggie! We’ve been there, though. We too have gone to extreme lengths to get some alone time so you totally have our sympathy.
