This dog saved her owner’s life with the power of cuddles and we’re weeping
Dogs aren’t just man’s best friend. They’re also fun, sweet, adorable, loving, funny… The list goes on. They’ve also done some amazing things over the years like the dog who ran a half marathon, the pup who filmed their owner’s wedding with a GoPro, and the pooch with a foodie Instagram. They’ve also been known to save their owner’s lives in extreme situations.
Kelsey, a very special golden-retriever, just became our newest dog hero.
According to The Independent, things went wrong on New Year’s Eve when a Michigan man fell in the snow — but his dog came to the rescue.

While walking outside to get some firewood, the 64-year-old man identified only as Bob slipped and fell, breaking his neck. That was already problem enough, but exacerbating the issue was the freezing temperatures, the fact that Bob was wearing only long johns, a shirt and slippers, and his nearest neighbors were too far to hear him shout for help.
“I was screaming for help, but my nearest neighbor is about a quarter-mile away and it was 10:30 p.m., but my Kelsey came,” Bob told The Petoskey News. “By morning my voice was gone and I couldn’t yell for help, but Kelsey didn’t stop barking.”
Bob laid in the snow for over 20 hours before a neighbor found him, and the only time Kelsey stayed with him, barking for help, laying on top of him to keep him warm, and licking his face and hands to keep him awake.
Bob, who’s recovering well and already in physical therapy following surgery to address his injuries, credits Kelsey with saving his life.
“She kept me warm and alert. I knew I had to persevere through this and that was my choice to stay alive.”
His doctors at the McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital agree. “I think animals can help and his dog really kept him alive and really helped him, he was very fortunate,” said Dr. Chaim Colen.
We already knew about the healing power of pets, but Kelsey’s amazing actions just go to show how incredible our dogs really are.
