Dress up your holiday table with these adorbs DIY placeholders
Holiday dinners are the best. You get to enjoy time with family and friends, celebrate the year past and look forward to the future—all with some delicious food and drinks, of course! And these meals don’t even need to be fancy to feel special. Speaking as someone who loves hosting guests in an apartment dining room best dubbed “cozy,” a festive dinner doesn’t have to involve a lot of fuss.
That doesn’t mean you can’t fake fuss, though, and what better way than to dress up your spread with a little glitter? This week’s DIY guides you through making miniature, decorative wreaths for your tabletop, complete with your party guests’ names so they can double as place settings. They’re ideal for Thanksgiving dinner, or any holiday get-together—plus, they make adorable party favors for your attendees!
Materials:
- Embellished floral wire
- Thread in a corresponding color to the wire
- White thread
- 5/8-inch wide white ribbon
- Basic sewing needle
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Fine pen or permanent marker
Craft away:
- Measure and cut the floral wire into six 10-inch long pieces.
- Form each piece into a circle, overlapping the ends of the wire slightly.
- Cut a few feet of the colorful thread and fold it in half, then thread the needle and tie a knot.
- Make a few looping stitches on each wreath to hold the ends of the wire together.
- Cut six 4-inch long pieces of ribbon.
- Write the names of your party guests on the ribbons, using a pen or thin permanent marker.
- Cut a few feet of the white thread and fold it in half, then thread the needle and tie a knot.
- Fold the end of each ribbon around a wreath, and stitch the ends of the ribbon in place with the needle and thread.
- You’re finished! When it’s time for your fancy event, set the table and put each placeholder where you want your guests to sit.
