DIY Wrapped Picture Frame
I’m tired of the run-of-the-mill photo frame. The sad thing is that mostly all photo frames I see in stores came in black, white, plastic or wood colors. Sure, it looks clean, but it’s just so boring! I recently picked up a pack of inexpensive frames from Target – about six frames in various sizes for $20.00. They all came in black, naturally. I really can’t see another black frame in my house, so I got crafty. Get some stunning wrapping paper and use it to wrap your frames. If you seal them in Mod Podge, you can’t tell they were ever wrapped in paper in the first place. This project took me about 20 minutes to wrap the frame, work out my kinks and have the Mod Podge dry, so it will be a quick way to add style to any frame and in turn your home. Seeing as how I keep my most important memories in frames, I just want the frame to reflect the energy of my memory.
What you need:
- Picture frame
- Wrapping Paper
- Mod Podge to seal frame and give it a glossy finish
- Ruler or straight edge
- Glue gun
Step 1: Trace frame on paper. Trace inside to cut out then trace outside with about 2″ border.
Note: Be generous with your boarder, as it is what you will wrap around the frame; you can always cut off more later.
Step 2: Cut out your frame.
Step 3: Mark a diagonal line on all 4 corners of the frame.
Step 4: Cut at diagonal lines.
Step 5: Start with long sides, glue on wrapping paper. Start with the top side of frame and wrap around to back of frame to create a seamless wrap. Secure with hot glue.
Step 6: After long sides are done, move onto horizontal sides.
Step 7: Now that your frame is wrapped, seal it in Mod Podge.
This is also a nice and inexpensive way to personalize a gift.
