Just some DIY invitations for your next summer bash
So I experienced what can be termed a “major life event” this summer: I got engaged! And while this is a special, personal time for my fiancé (!) and I, it’s also a period of celebration for our family and friends. The wedding will be held far away from many of our friends, so we’re having an informal engagement party to celebrate with our Chicago besties. I’m resisting the urge to craft every little detail of the big day itself, but I couldn’t stop myself from making some sweet and simple invitations for our party. They’re a quick, easy way to add some personal flair to your next bash!
Materials:
- 10 4 1/4 by 5 1/2-inch blank cards and envelopes
- Thin metallic ribbon
- Hole punch
- Scissors
- Double-sided tape
- Ruler
Craft away:
- Using the ruler to guide you, punch two holes in the top of each card. Place them 1-inch in from the sides of the card, and 1/4-inch in from the top. Make sure to only punch through the front of the card.
- Measure and cut 10 12-inch pieces of ribbon.
- Loop the ribbon through the holes in each card, back to front. Stick a small piece of double-sided tape in between the holes, tie a knot in the ribbon and press it into the tape. Tie the ribbon into a bow.
- Type up what you want your invitation to say on the computer, and print out 10 copies. Trim around the edges of your message, and tape it to the inside of each card with the double-sided tape.
- Slide your pretty cards into their envelopes, and invite your friends to your soiree!
