These stunning photos of Diwali celebrations will make your heart feel good
It’s time for Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, which annually transforms the evening into a magical playground of fireworks, candles, candies, dancing, and revelry. It’s celebrated in Hindu, Jain, and Sikh households as a triumph of light over the dark, and it also coincides with the Hindu New Year. The actual festival is five days long, but the day of Diwali falls on the festival’s third day, aka right now. And how do you celebrate? With all kinds of light: sparklers, fireworks, lanterns, and candles. Plus there’s exchanging gifts and eating delicious Indian treats. It’s like New Year’s, 4th of July and Halloween all rolled into one really great birthday party. In honor of Diwali, here are some super-joyful photos we found of the celebrations (courtesy of the teleportation device known as the Interwebz). Happy Diwali, everyone!
