‘Divergent’ author Veronica Roth just signed a deal for her next series!

Prepare to let out a squee of delight, Divergent fans. Veronica Roth, the author behind the mega-hit book-turned-film series, has just inked a deal with Harper Collins for her next book series. The Divergent follow-up is set to be a two-book series and, while it doesn’t have a title yet, the publisher did release a little info about the plot, describing it as being, “in the vein of Star Wars … the story of a boy who forms an unlikely alliance with an enemy. Both desperate to escape their oppressive lives, they help each other attain what they most desire: for one, redemption, and the other, revenge.”

Science fiction? Check.

Lead characters desperate to escape oppression? Check.

A struggle for redemption and revenge? Check.

This is sounding like quite the worthy Divergent follow-up.

We officially can’t wait and we’re in good company: Veronica can’t wait for her fans to read the books, either. “I’m really enjoying working on this new series. I can’t wait to share it with readers!” she said of her new literary venture.

Unfortunately, we still do have to wait. The new books are set to be released in 2017 and 2018. So allow yourself a big sigh and mark your calendar.
