OMG one of Disneyworld’s most iconic features is getting a major makeover for “Rogue One”
You heard it here first, folks: Disneyworld is going to the dark side!
Or at least some of it is. To celebrate the upcoming release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (WHO ELSE IS SUPER EXCITED?!?!?!), the park plans to magically transform one of its most recognizable features during an invite-only, after-hours, probably-very-ritzy event on December 5th. You know that gigantic sphere in Epcot Center? The one that looks like an enormous disco ball, or maybe a golf ball of epic proportions?
Said gigantic sphere is actually a ride called Spaceship Earth, and it’s going to be come a very different kind of spaceship altogether. Have you guessed it yet? We shall keep you in suspense no longer, so get ready:
Disney is turning it into the Death Star!
Tragedy of tragedies, no actual concept art of the change has yet been released, but you can use your imagination. (Is this going to be awesome or what?!) The intergalactic makeover will reportedly only be temporary, though no specific details have been provided, so who knows if post-December 5th parkgoers will be able to see the scary star-killing behemoth in person.
Here is a live shot of us dropping everything to get to Disneyworld right now, because it’s that awesome:
The park isn’t forgetting about those of us without tickets, because the Disney gods are awesome. Disneyworld plans to livestream Spaceship Earth’s transformation into the Death Star, so even young Padawans all the way across the universe can enjoy the moment.
May the Force be with us as we spend the next two days awaiting the big reveal!
