There are going to be *six* different ride experiences for Disneyland’s new Tower of Terror

Woooooo! That’s how excited we are about Disneyland’s upcoming revamp of Tower of Terror. The ride will open in one short month as a newly redesigned experience, themed to Guardians of the Galaxy. And it turns out that this new Guardians of the Galaxy ride — named, Mission: Breakout — will offer not just one but six different ride experiences.
It probably comes as no surprise to Guardians of the Galaxy fans that the new ride has its very own soundtrack. And what’s even cooler is that each time you go on the ride, you’ll get one of six songs for your adventure. According to D23, here are the six options:
- — “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” by Pat Benatar (1980)
- — “Give Up The Funk” by Parliament (1975)
- — “Born To Be Wild” by Steppenwolf (1968)
- — “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5 (1969)
- — “Free Ride” by The Edgar Winters Group (1973)
- — “Burning Love” by Elvis Presley (1972)
And just how did they choose these songs? John Dennis, Executive Creative Director, Walt Disney Imagineering had some good criteria:
“A strong identifiable rhythm and a memorable hook were key points. For example, ‘Free Ride’ has an iconic guitar hook, a killer bass line in the verse and, in the chorus, the backing vocals have a great ascending line. The rock n roll music playing on board the ride is just plain fun. The songs, each paired with its own ride profile, give us six unique experiences.
So basically you’ll be dancing your way through the galaxy like Baby Groot.
But wait, that’s not all. Each song also corresponds with different scenarios, different action scenes, and a completely different experience. Which basically means you’ll need to ride a few times to make sure you get each of the randomized experiences. But we’re guessing that won’t be too much of a challenge.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout is ready for action May 27th at Disneyland California Adventure!
