The Internet is going nuts because Disneyland in California might be expanding
Disneyland, aka the Happiest Place On Earth, just purchased some brand new land. “Yeah, so what?” you’re probably thinking, “Why is this a big deal?” It’s a big deal because Disneyland is tiny and has literally used all of its available space for rides, shows, and places to meet the Frozen sisters. If Disneyland purchases more land, and expands its theme park(s) that means that we could be getting more rides, more shows, more Frozen meet and greets and… maybe a Star Wars Land?
Yes, Star Wars. And why stop there? How about an awesome Avengers Land? With this new purchase, Disneyland could easily bring us both of these amazing things to life.
According to the Los Angeles Times, The Walt Disney Company purchased three parcels of land — 14.7 acres in total — that are all connected and sit across the street from Disney’s California Adventure. Right now, Mickey and Co. are keeping mum as to why they purchased this land and what they’re going to do with it. But, The Disney Company’s CEO, Bob Iger, recently mentioned that Disneyland was looking to expand in size for more park offerings (rides, shows, shops, Frozen stuff, churro stands, etc.), and this land purchase might be it.
If you know nothing about the size of Disneyland, just know that it’s tiny. And I say that in the most Disney-loving way possible. All of Disneyland could fit into the parking lot of Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Last time Disneyland wanted to expand, they literally had to build in its parking lot — really. California Adventure sits where Disneyland’s parking lot used to be. Even if Disneyland wanted to expand some more, they can’t. There’s simply no more space. Or at least, there wasn’t. This new purchase could change everything.
Now that Disney has this brand new land, conveniently located a hop, skip, and a jump away, the idea of a Star Wars Land might not be too far, far away.
