In honor of Disneyland’s 60th, let’s watch this bonkers-amazing water-and-light spectacle
Disneyland’s 60th anniversary is just around the corner and, in honor, their sister park Disney California Adventure has created an incredible homage to Walt and the worlds he created. To celebrate six decades of Disneyland, they put together a water-and-light show that tells the story of Walt’s vision, early work, and the legacy that continues to be such an important part of the entertainment biz.
“World of Color: Celebrate!” has a bit of everything. Early animation of Mickey and footage of Walt himself have been combined with iconic scenes from Disney’s huge catalog of films. It’s all set against an ever changing backdrop of color, created with water and light, and hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. It’s seriously epic.
It took three years for the show to be put together, and Disney vice president Steve Davison told the OC Register it was a, “labor of love.” That’s easy to imagine when you look at what goes into the show itself. It’s 22 minutes long, involves a 380-foot wide screen made of water, and requires lasers, fog, mist, and a whole lot of special effects like flame throwers. It’s a pretty incredible 60th birthday gift for a pretty incredible place!
The OC Register has made the entire show available via Youtube (thanks guys!) which you can watch below! Happy Birthday, Disneyland!
