11 magical things that can happen if you get married at Disney

While I haven’t gotten married at Disney myself, I did work at the Walt Disney World Resort for 3+ years, and I got to witness these things first hand. Here are just some of the many magical things that can happen if you get married at the Happiest Place on Earth.

1. You can plan your wedding in a building named after Father of the Bride!

Specifically, Martin Short’s wedding planner, Franck, from Father of the Bride. The official Disney Wedding Pavilion is named after Marin Short,  so let that sink in for a second. You are going to plan your wedding surrounded by the essence of  comedic legend Martin Short.

2. Roll up in Cinderella’s Carriage!

Oh, do you want the full princess treatment? Depending on the location of your ceremony, you can actually arrive in a horse-drawn carriage. It costs $2,950 or two hours, but it includes the costumed footmen and miniature ponies, so that makes it basically priceless.

3. Mickey can walk you down the aisle!

Move aside, main-parental-figure-in-your-life, because this costumed character is here to steal the show.

4. You can have your first dance with Mickey!

Because, why not?

5. Actually, all the Disney characters can be at your wedding!

Keep in mind, all of these things cost mad Disney dollars, and having Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Daisy, Chip, Dale, Mr. Incredible, Peter Pan, Genie, Cinderella, Flynn Rider, Timone, Mary Poppins, and Darth Vader is going to cost the same amount as a small Caribbean island.

FYI: One character for 30 minutes costs $1,150. But five characters only costs $3,150! Now that’s what we call a bargain.

6. You can get married in the park!

But, there’s a huge catch. You can get married in the park, sure, but it can’t be during park operating hours. That means, you’ve got to get married before the park opens. If the park opens at 9 a.m., you have to be married and out before 8 a.m. Your wedding guests might not be thrilled learning they’ve gotta attend a wedding before the sun is up.

And, getting married in the parks costs $3,500… getting married specifically in Magic Kingdom costs $10,000.

7. Get married in “Italy”!

Dream of a destination wedding, but don’t want to fly the family across the Atlantic? Take them to EPCOT instead. You can get married in any of the 11 World Showcase Pavilions that will make it look and feel like you’re in a foreign country.

8. The (Disney) world is your photography playground!

Want wedding pictures in front of the castle? You can! But, that also has to happen before the park opens. Also, Disney won’t let you into the park in your wedding dress during operating hours, and even if you stuff the wedding gown in your bag and change in a bathroom, they still won’t let it happen. It’s best to go with Disney Photographer for this.

9. You can have pictures in front of this charming Rapunzel backdrop!

Shhh, it’s really a restroom location in Fantasyland, but look at those floating lanterns!

10. Fireworks!

Not like, specifically for your wedding, but you can time your wedding so the fireworks go off in the background. Or, take the entire wedding party on a fireworks cruise in the Seven Seas Lagoon.

11. A magical animated wedding cake!

You guys, it moves.
