And now, we present you Disney villains as pin-up girls

In case you haven’t heard (rather, seen), Disney princesses are a very popular muse these days —especially here at HelloGiggles. These iconic figures have been reimagined countless times and from distinctly unique perspectives, showing us the power of the human imagination. At this point, we could probably spend hours (nay, days) looking at “Disney Princesses as…” art, but what about Disney villains? When will it be their turn to shine?

Well, actually, their time has come – at long last! Artist Andrew Tarusov has taken the female villains we love to hate and has given them a sex-positive makeover. Now, when they encounter a magic mirror and chant, “Mirror, mirror on the wall…”, they will see themselves as empowered, sexy pin-up models. How do we know they are empowered, you ask? Because these antagonists do what they want and no one can convince them otherwise.

Typically, when you see a Disney villain, you see an older woman who is depicted as a crone. You see old age being equated with loneliness, a soulless nature, and an unappealing aesthetic – especially when you compare them to youthful princess protagonists. That’s why Tarusov’s work matters. While we do wish that there was a bit more diversity (primarily in terms of the body types that are shown), he does allow these infamously non-sexy women to embrace their sexuality in an artistic fashion. And we applaud that.

What we love most is that these lady villains look downright confident. They are posing with trusty sidekicks and the symbols that have been associated with them since day one (an apple from The Evil Queen, anyone?). By including small details straight from the Disney movies, the artist represents these characters as a whole. Rather than simply focusing on the “pin-up” aspect of it all, they are reimagined as liberated women who have likes, dislikes, and personalities.

To see these all-powerful females as you’ve never seen them before, take a look at Tarusov’s illustrations:

We wonder what the Magic Mirror would have to say about The Evil Queen now.
