Here are the amazing new things coming to Disney Parks

When Walt Disney opened his first theme park, Disneyland, in 1955, he had this to say: “[It] will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” 60 years later, that idea still rings true. We’ve got an overflow of imagination on our hands, seeing as how the wonderful folks at Disney continue think up crazy-awesome, new, and exciting things to bring to the Disney Parks around the world.

So just what are we going to see coming to the parks soon? To borrow a line from Mickey Mouse, “OH BOY.” There’s SO MUCH that was just announced at the D23 Expo in California, and our bags are already packed. Everything is crazy-awesome, and new, AND exciting, plus, everything is downright MAGICAL. Let’s take this piece-by-piece, so you know exactly when and where to plan your next Disney Parks vacation.

Star Wars Land

Do you feel that disturbance in the force? That’s because a billion Star Wars fans just cried out in sheer joy. The long-rumored Star Wars Land is coming to not just one park, but TWO. One Star Wars land will open up at Hollywood Studios at Disney World in Orlando, Florida; the second will open up in California Adventure at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. So wherever you are in the country, there’s going to be a conveniently located Star Wars Land.

What are we going to find inside? According to Disney, two “signature rides.” One will be a “thrilling battle experience” while the other, “puts guests behind the controls of one of the most recognizable ships in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon, as they take on a customized secret mission.” Yes, sign us up.

That’s not all. At Disney World, they’ll soon be a “Seasons of the Force” celebration, which will include Star Wars themed fireworks. Over at Disneyland, the Space Mountain roller coaster will be revamped into “Hyperspace Mountain” putting you in the middle of an X-Wing battle.

This news has got us like:

Toy Story Land

We can never get enough Woody and Buzz Lightyear in our lives, so it’s a good thing Disney is dedicating an entire land to these two best friends. You’re going to have to travel to Disney World for this one, as the new Toy Story Land will set up (toy) shop at Hollywood Studios.

Along with the existing Toy Story Midway Mania, this new land will include TWO new rides: one roller-coaster modeled after Slinky Dog (ADORABLE), and the other will have the “little green aliens [taking] guests around for a spin in their very own flying saucers,” while THE CLAW watches over everything.

Pandora – The World of AVATAR

The Avatar expansion at Animal Kingdom in Orlando is already in the middle of construction, and a few more awesome details were released. The main attraction for this land will actually give you the change to fly high in the sky on a Banshee “on an aerial rite of passage.”

Animal Kingdom

Lost of news about Animal Kingdom, actually. So once again, pack your bags for Orlando.

Animal Kingdom is getting some new nighttime experiences, and that’s a BIG DEAL. Since it’s opening, the park has genuinely closed early in the afternoon, since all the animals inside go to sleep as soon as night falls. But now, even though the lions have settled in for the night, there are still going to be a few reasons to stick around the park. There’s going to be a new “Rivers of Light” event, that will include “live music, floating lanterns, water screens and swirling animal imagery.”

Don’t know how that’s all going to come together, but we are SO THERE.

And, Soarin’ Around The World

Have you ever been on Soarin? It’s a ride, but it’s also a giant show, and also you’re suspended in mid-air, as if you’re on a hang-glider. It’s one of these things that you’ve gotta see to believe, and now it’s going to be completely different. Where you once used to fly over the state of California, now you’re going to fly over the whole WORLD.
